What is Boot Camp?
Boot Camp is military style physical training. The sessions are designed
to develop and improve all aspects of your fitness – cardio, strength,
speed, agility, power, flexibility and co-ordination – through functional
exercises.
Most of the Boot Camp sessions are held outdoors, so there is no gym equipment.
The majority of exercises performed use your own body weight, so the strength
developed is practical. And because each session is different, your body
will constantly adapt, unlike following the same old routine at the gym.
Why do Boot Camp?
Firstly, the exercises performed are real movements, as well as functional.
In comparison, exercises you perform at the gym tend to isolate muscles,
and aren’t a movement you would perform in day-to-day life. This means
that the strength gained is functional and not just for looks. The exercises
involve more parts of the body, so more work is performed per repetition,
meaning a better workout.
Secondly, as every Boot Camp session is different, the body is constantly
adapting, meaning improved fitness gains. A gym program will have you
doing the same routine for weeks, or even months, at a time. After the
brief period of adaption, there are no more gains, so you see smaller
results.
Third and finally, you will be training in a group. Not only will the
instructor be motivating you, but so too will the group as you form a
camaraderie.
What do I wear to Boot
Camp?
Comfortable clothes – t-shirt and shorts/track pants. A warm top is recommended during the winter months. A water bottle and towel are also required. It is also recommended that you purchase a good pair of runners.
It’s raining; will
Boot Camp still go ahead?
Yes, you will train rain, hail or shine. The only weather that will affect
sessions are days of extreme heat (>40°C). In the event of extreme heat,
the session will either be re-scheduled or moved indoors.
During winter, tracksuit tops may be worn until you have warmed up. Remember,
Boot Camp is designed to challenge you mentally as well as physically.
Training in all weather conditions tests your mental toughness and proves
your commitment.

How many sessions do
I have to attend?
Ideally, recruits will attend all 4 sessions each week. However, in order to achieve measurable results, recruits must attend a minimum of two sessions per week.
What are the requirements
for doing Boot Camp?
Recruits must be at least 16 years of age at the commencement of the program. Recruits must also complete a Pre-activity Questionnaire (part of the enlistment form). The information provided helps to determine if medical clearance is needed. If required, your instructor will contact you before Boot Camp starts.
Do I need to be fit
to do Boot Camp?
Anyone can do Boot Camp, provided the entry requirements are met. Boot Camp is for all fitness levels. The program is designed to improve your fitness no matter what your current fitness level is and the exercises are adjusted to your ability.
If I quit Impact Boot
Camp, will I get a refund?
No quitters! Refunds are only given on medical grounds and a medical certificate is required.
What if I am injured,
can I still do Boot Camp?
Most of the time, it is still possible to continue to train. You must inform the instructor as early as possible, so that alternative or modified exercises can be provided to work around the injury. If it is not possible to train, alternative arrangements can be discussed.
